My application for this is simple. I wanted to connect the USB on a Kurzweil PC3 synth to my computer on the other side of the room. It’s only 25 feet with the cable run around the side of the room, so first I tried a cheaper self powered 16′ USB extender that was under $25 and a 10′ USB cable. It did not work for me. Then I got this one, put a 25 foot cat5 cable on it and it has worked flawlessly. This was more money, but I guess in this case you truly get what you pay for. I really needed to get the connection working, so I’m very happy with this device.
